Program Overview
This learn to skate program gives skaters of all levels the tools they need to learn and refine their
skills. Whether you are interested in figure skating, hockey or just looking for a fun challenge, this
program is for you! Your child will be provided with a 40-minute group lesson from one of our
instructors as well as a 10 minute practice free skate to work on individual skills. This class is
designed for children ages 5 and up.
Our classes will be run in conjunction with the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills program and our
professional coaching staff. Our program teaches the fundamentals of hockey skating as well as
figure skating. To register in person for the current session, you can stop by the arena at any time
and fill out a registration form or you can download our registration form.

Session 1 - September 15th - November 10th
Session 2 - November 17th - February 9th (no session 12/29)

Session 4 - May 11th - June 22nd ( no session 5/25)
Saturday Sessions - 8:20am

-NEW STUDENTS ARE ACCEPTED AT ANY ANY TIME.
Please Note:
-All skaters are required to wear a helmet (either a hockey or bike helmet) and warm clothing
such as mittens, water repellant pants, and a jacket.
-Skaters must also have their own pair of ice skates (figure or hockey only - no double runners).
-Skaters new to the program are required to pay an annual $10 registration fee. The fee will
cover all skaters in the family.
Learn to Skate Director - Curt Doten
The Cyclones Arena is proud to announce Curt Doten as it's Skating Director for the Learn to
Skate Program. Curt is a former New England Regional, Eastern Sectional, and United States National
Championships Gold Medalist. He is a United States Figure Skating Association Gold Medalist in Free
Skating and Moves in the Field. Curt trained under World and Olympic coaches Evy and Mary Scotvold,
and has been coaching students of his own since 2003. He is a member of the Professional Skaters
Association and the United States Figure Skating Association. He is also a graduate of Colgate University.
